LA Marathon Sunday? The UCLA Camp Fair Is Still Easy to Reach

Families across Los Angeles are getting ready for the LA Camp Fair in Pauley Pavilion at UCLA this Sunday from Noon–3 PM, one of the biggest opportunities of the year to explore summer camps in one place.

At the same time, the LA Marathon will be taking place across the city. Some families have asked whether marathon road closures will make it difficult to reach UCLA.

The good news: getting to the UCLA Camp Fair is still easy.

Most marathon closures are located south of UCLA along Wilshire Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, and the Century City finish area. UCLA sits north of these streets, so several convenient routes remain open for families attending the event.

Best Routes to UCLA

  • 405 Freeway → Sunset Boulevard → UCLA
Exit the 405 at Sunset Boulevard and head east toward campus. Enter UCLA via Westwood Plaza.
  • Sunset Boulevard → Westwood Plaza
Families coming from Brentwood or Pacific Palisades can simply follow Sunset directly into UCLA.
  • Beverly Glen → Sunset Boulevard → UCLA
If you're coming from Beverly Hills or Hollywood, Beverly Glen is an easy way to reach Sunset and approach campus from the north.

Streets to Avoid

  • Wilshire Boulevard near Century City
  • Santa Monica Boulevard near the marathon finish
  • Driving through Century City during peak marathon activity

Plan Your Visit

The UCLA Camp Fair brings together dozens of outstanding summer camps offering programs for children of all ages. Families can meet camp directors, ask questions, and discover programs ranging from sports and adventure camps to arts, STEM, sleepaway camps, and specialty programs.

For many families, attending a camp fair is the easiest way to compare camps and find the right summer experience for their child in just one afternoon.

San Diego parents, it’s time to get serious about summer in the best possible way. This Saturday, March 7, the San Diego Camp Fair is taking place at the beautiful campus of the University of San Diego for one exciting, high-energy afternoon dedicated entirely to helping families plan an amazing summer.

Why Does this Event Matter?

Choosing a camp isn’t just about filling time in the summer. It’s about confidence, friendships, independence, skill-building, and discovering passions. But with so many options online, it can feel overwhelming trying to compare programs from a laptop screen.

At the San Diego Camp Fair, everything becomes easier. You’ll discover an incredible lineup of camps and meet the camp directors face-to-face. You’ll ask real questions and get real answers. You’ll see which camps connect with your child. In just one afternoon, you can accomplish what might otherwise take weeks of research.

What You'll Find at the San Diego Camp Fair

Families can expect a diverse mix of camps at this Saturday's camp fair, including:

• Local San Diego day camps
• Traditional overnight camps
• Sports and specialty training programs
• STEM and academic enrichment camps
• Performing arts and creative programs
• Outdoor adventure and wilderness experiences
• Leadership and teen travel opportunities

Whether your child loves robotics, theater, soccer, surfing, coding, filmmaking, horseback riding, or just being outdoors with friends, there will be options to explore.

Another suggestion: Bring a short list of questions about schedules, staff ratios, safety policies, transportation, and payment plans.

When meeting the camps, be sure to let your child participate in the conversations. You'll quickly see which camps excite them the most.
Many families leave with clarity, confidence, and sometimes even registration completed on the spot.
